Ingredient appreciation — what makes Boerewors special
What sets Boerewors apart is the handling of chakalaka relish. In lesser versions this is treated as a background note. Here it's central and the robust and satisfying result shows it. I've started buying it to cook with at home after this experience.

Decent Boerewors — nothing more, nothing less
Boerewors at this place was fine. The sweet-tangy from chutney flavour was there but not distinguished. Mrs Ball's chutney was present in the right quantities but without the care that makes the difference. You can taste when something is being made to a formula.

Boerewors exceeded every expectation
I went in with low expectations — I'd had mediocre versions before. What I found was Boerewors made with real commitment to boerewors spice mix and technique. The spiced and savoury result was more complex and satisfying than anything I'd had before.

Spice level warning — Boerewors is not what I expected
I underestimated Boerewors. The sweet-tangy from chutney description didn't prepare me for the reality. Mrs Ball's chutney brings a heat or pungency that builds steadily rather than hitting upfront. By halfway through I was sweating but couldn't stop eating.
