My 12 days exploring Amman and beyond — completely worth it
I spent 12 days in Jordan and based myself mainly in Amman. The city itself exceeded expectations — the Dead Sea was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten knafeh every other day and have no regrets about it whatsoever.
What I didn't…

Returned to Jordan for the third time — keeps getting better
This was my third visit to Jordan and I keep finding new reasons to return. This time I explored beyond Amman and discovered a completely different side of the country. Wadi Mujib never loses its impact no matter how many times you've seen it.
The food still makes me happy in ways I can't fully exp…

Jerash Roman ruins alone makes Jordan worth the trip
I'll be honest — I went to Jordan primarily to see Jerash Roman ruins, and it delivered beyond what any photo prepares you for. But the surrounding region surprised me just as much. Jerash has a character I didn't anticipate, and wandering without a plan for an afternoon turned out to be one of the …

Mixed experience in Jordan — beautiful but overhyped
Jordan is undeniably beautiful. Jerash Roman ruins and the area around Amman have a visual quality that photographs don't capture fully. I enjoyed Jordanian tea and appreciated incredible Roman ruins. That's all real.
But Jordan Pass essential to save money was more of a problem than I expected bas…

Jordan in shoulder season — best decision I made
Visited Jordan in shoulder season deliberately and the decision paid off completely. Wadi Mujib without peak crowds is a totally different experience. Wadi Rum felt lived-in rather than touristy. I travel for food more than anything else, and Jordan shot straight to the top of my culinary travel list. mezze spread alone justified the flight, but that was just the beginning. The variety and quality in Amman is relentless — I didn't have a single disappointing meal in 10 days.
Wadi Mujib gave…

Honest review after 21 days — mostly great, a few gripes
Visited Jordan for 21 days. The positives are real: Dead Sea is every bit as impressive as advertised, and the food scene around Aqaba is genuinely excellent — try knafeh if you haven't. floating in the Dead Sea was an unexpected bonus.
That said, summer heat is punishing. It's not a dealbreaker bu…

Unexpected emotional depth in Jordan
I thought I was going to Jordan for beaches, food, and Jerash Roman ruins. I got all of those things. What I didn't expect was how emotionally affecting the trip would be. The history — particularly around Amman — hit in ways that good travel sometimes does.
Petra is genuinely one of the world's gr…

Arrived with low expectations, left completely converted
Jordan wasn't high on my travel list. A friend pushed me to go and I'm genuinely grateful. The first full day in Wadi Rum reset everything — the scale of Wadi Rum desert and the quality of the falafel were immediate signals that I'd misjudged the place completely.

Disappointed by the tourist experience around Wadi Rum desert
Wadi Rum desert in Jordan is extraordinary — the scale and history hit you immediately. But the experience around it has been thoroughly commercialised. Getting there, navigating the crowds, and dealing with persistent sellers around Wadi Rum centre made it more stressful than it should be.
