Expected to hate Taekwondo, now cannot imagine stopping

A friend dragged me to a Taekwondo trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.

That was 15 months ago. The push kick I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. pattern memorisation has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. Olympic competition format understanding happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. underdeveloped hand techniques relative to kicks is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
