Tried Taekwondo expecting one thing, found something completely different
I signed up for Taekwondo expecting a straightforward fitness class. What I found was a technical discipline that demands real skill development. The jump spinning back kick I was shown in week one is still something I'm refining now, 15 months later. pattern memorisation gave me a framework for understanding why things work, not just what to do.
first sparring session was the surprise that hooked me. adjusting to the point-scoring system was the reality check that made me respect the sport. The groin guard is worth the investment — don't cut corners. I came for fitness and found a practice. That's a much better outcome.
