Expected to hate Running, now cannot imagine stopping
A friend dragged me to a Running trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.
That was 5 months ago. The cadence I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. easy aerobic base has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. the meditative state of long easy runs happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. overtraining temptation before a goal race is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
