I've been competing in Rock Climbing for three years now, training five days a week. I want to give an honest picture of what the competitive path looks like.

The technical demands compound. mantling at beginner level and at competition level are almost different skills. Understanding V-grades deeply enough to deploy it under pressure takes years, not months. Studying Tommy Caldwell's approach changed how I think about the game entirely. sending a project after weeks of effort is what makes it worth the commitment. expensive trad climbing gear is the tax you pay. Not everyone needs to compete — but if you have the itch, chase it. It will make you better in every direction.
