Expected to hate MMA, now cannot imagine stopping
A friend dragged me to a MMA trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.
That was 5 months ago. The Muay Thai clinch I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. wrestling base has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. how everything connects into one system happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. the higher injury rate vs. single-discipline training is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
