Serious competitive journey in MMA — what it really takes
I've been competing in MMA for three years now, training five days a week. I want to give an honest picture of what the competitive path looks like.
The technical demands compound. double-leg takedown at beginner level and at competition level are almost different skills. Understanding grappling vs. striking balance deeply enough to deploy it under pressure takes years, not months. Studying Georges St-Pierre's approach changed how I think about the game entirely. how everything connects into one system is what makes it worth the commitment. the higher injury rate vs. single-discipline training is the tax you pay. Not everyone needs to compete — but if you have the itch, chase it. It will make you better in every direction.
