Overrated for fitness, underrated for everything else

Purely as a fitness tool, Karate is good but not exceptional. There are more efficient ways to get fit. Where Karate is genuinely underrated is everything else: the gyaku-zuki reverse punch problem-solving, the kumite sparring depth, kumite opening up after basics click. These aren't fitness outcomes — they're life outcomes.

kata memorisation is the honest downside that the fitness crowd often glosses over. If you're coming for abs and cardio, you'll get decent results but maybe not optimal ones. If you're coming for something that changes how you think and move and manage stress, Karate is exceptional value.
