Container growing Purple Coneflower — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a wildlife pond margin planting is my only option for Purple Coneflower. It absolutely works — with the right attention to allowing plants to set seed before cutting at the end of season you can get excellent results in containers.
exceptional wildlife value for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies is fully achievable even in a pot. seed setting and dispersal in late summer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: rabbits and slugs targeting young seedlings. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
