I don't have a garden so a roadside or verge planting in a community space is my only option for Meadow Sage. It absolutely works — with the right attention to scarifying or scratching the soil before sowing for seed contact you can get excellent results in containers.

naturalistic aesthetic that suits modern ecological gardens is fully achievable even in a pot. peak flowering from early to midsummer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: dog walkers or trampling on unmown meadow areas. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
