Beginner success with Virginia Creeper — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Virginia Creeper. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to providing a robust support structure before planting.

I grow mine in a house wall with appropriate fixings for support which is working really well. dramatic seasonal transformations from bare stems to full cover was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. peak flowering display in summer has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring roots disturbing foundations if planted too close to buildings, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
