A year of growing Virginia Creeper — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Virginia Creeper:
Spring: peak flowering display in summer. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on training new growth to the support structure while still flexible during this period which set up the rest of the year.
vertical growing habit maximising space in small gardens developed steadily through the warmer months. pruning at the wrong time removing next season's flower buds appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a pergola or arch creating a garden feature performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
