Struggling with Passionflower — would appreciate advice

I want to be honest: I'm not getting great results with Passionflower and I'm not entirely sure why. roots disturbing foundations if planted too close to buildings has been a recurring problem despite my attempts to address it. I've been focusing on training new growth to the support structure while still flexible based on everything I've read.

ability to soften hard architectural features naturally is there in glimpses, which tells me the plant has potential in my conditions. I have it in a house wall with appropriate fixings for support which might not be ideal. bare structure in winter revealing the interesting stem framework showed some improvement. Two stars for now — not the plant's fault, but not a success yet. I'll update if things improve.
