Tomato is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: blossom end rot from irregular watering and calcium deficiency. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, far superior flavour versus supermarket produce makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a greenhouse or polytunnel for season extension which suits it well. Learning about feeding with a high-potassium fertiliser once flowering begins has been essential. planting out and establishing after last frost is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
