I don't have a garden so a greenhouse or polytunnel for season extension is my only option for Tomato. It absolutely works — with the right attention to feeding with a high-potassium fertiliser once flowering begins you can get excellent results in containers.

productive over a long season with successive sowing is fully achievable even in a pot. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: aphid colonies on brassicas and soft growth. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
