The unexpected joy of growing Tomato
I planted Tomato without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. productive over a long season with successive sowing is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a raised bed in full sun with good-quality compost which is perfect for it. feeding with a high-potassium fertiliser once flowering begins was the thing I got lucky getting right early. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. blight in warm wet summers especially on tomatoes is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
