Started Spinach at the wrong time — lessons learned

I planted Spinach at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. aphid colonies on brassicas and soft growth didn't help matters. Once I understood feeding with a high-potassium fertiliser once flowering begins things improved substantially.

satisfaction of harvesting food you grew yourself is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a decorative potager with flowers and vegetables mixed it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
