A year of growing Carrot — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Carrot:
Spring: planting out and establishing after last frost. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on thinning seedlings to give each plant adequate space during this period which set up the rest of the year.
far superior flavour versus supermarket produce developed steadily through the warmer months. slug and snail damage on young seedlings appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a decorative potager with flowers and vegetables mixed performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
