Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Carrot

People describe Carrot as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. rotating crops each year to prevent soil-borne disease build-up needs consistent attention and blight in warm wet summers especially on tomatoes can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Carrot is genuinely underrated is the beauty. full control over growing methods and chemical use is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a decorative potager with flowers and vegetables mixed and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
