Honest review: Bird of Paradise is rewarding but failure to flower indoors without sufficient light intensity is real
Bird of Paradise is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: failure to flower indoors without sufficient light intensity. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.
Beyond that, fast growth in warm humid conditions makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a bathroom with high natural light and steam humidity which suits it well. Learning about watering generously in summer and reducing in winter has been essential. flowering period in peak summer heat is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
