Slow start but a stunning finish with Japanese Maple

The first few months with Japanese Maple were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting watering deeply and regularly in the first two growing seasons right was the turning point.

multi-decade investment that improves year on year became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a boundary or avenue planting in a larger space it gets the attention it deserves. autumn colour and fruit or berry display was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: root encroachment near drains or house foundations. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
