multi-decade investment that improves year on year became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a small garden with a compact or columnar variety chosen for scale it gets the attention it deserves. bare winter silhouette revealing branch structure and bark was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: honey fungus affecting roots especially on stressed trees. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
