I've grown several varieties within the Cherry Blossom family and have some observations to share. canopy habitat for birds, insects, and wildlife varies noticeably between them, more than catalogue descriptions suggest. The care fundamentals are shared — formative pruning in the first five years to build a clear leader applies across all of them.

verticillium wilt causing branch dieback on susceptible species affects some more than others, particularly in adverse conditions. I grow mine in a specimen on a lawn as a traditional statement tree which works well for most varieties. blossom or leaf burst in spring creating dramatic transformation is the clearest moment of differentiation between varieties — that's when the character of each comes through. Worth growing a few side by side if you have the space.
