Slow start but a stunning finish with Hen and Chicks
The first few months with Hen and Chicks were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting using a gritty well-draining cactus compost mix right was the turning point.
water-storing fleshy leaves in geometric rosettes became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a vertical living wall frame it gets the attention it deserves. dormancy and reduced watering in winter was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: leaf drop in cold or draughty positions. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
