The unexpected joy of growing Echeveria

I planted Echeveria without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. wide range of colours from blue-grey to red is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.

I keep it in a vertical living wall frame which is perfect for it. avoiding water on the rosette centre to prevent rot was the thing I got lucky getting right early. new offsets appearing around the base in spring stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. root rot from overwatering and poor drainage is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
