Forsythia seasonal highlights — a year in review
I've been growing Forsythia for a full year now and want to capture what each season offered. summer flowering on the current season's growth was the clear high point — everything you're told about Forsythia at that time of year is true. But the plant has something to offer in every season, which I hadn't expected.
generally low maintenance once established is consistent throughout the year, which is one of its real strengths. I've settled on a low-maintenance foundation planting around a house as the ideal position. watering in dry spells in the first two seasons after planting was the lesson I took into next year. dieback from harsh winters on marginally hardy varieties is the only thing that interrupted the enjoyment. Otherwise: excellent.
