Container growing Azalea — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a low-maintenance foundation planting around a house is my only option for Azalea. It absolutely works — with the right attention to mulching around the base annually to feed and retain moisture you can get excellent results in containers.
permanent woody structure providing year-round garden framework is fully achievable even in a pot. early spring flowering on bare branches before leaves appear is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: failure to flower when pruned at the wrong time. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
