The first few months with Queen Elizabeth were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting deep watering at the base rather than overhead right was the turning point.

dense double blooms with a classic silhouette became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a dedicated rose bed with good air circulation it gets the attention it deserves. hips forming in autumn for wildlife interest was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: powdery mildew in humid summers. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
