A year of growing Peace — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Peace:
Spring: bare canes in winter showing the plant's architecture. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on pruning to an outward-facing bud at a 45-degree angle during this period which set up the rest of the year.
repeat-flowering over a long season developed steadily through the warmer months. black spot fungal disease on the leaves appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a sunny south-facing garden border performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
