Gift that became an obsession — New Dawn

Someone gave me New Dawn as a birthday gift and I barely knew what it was. Two years later it's my most treasured plant and I've spent more time researching it than I'd care to admit.

The key discovery was applying rose-specific granular fertiliser in early spring — once that clicked, the plant transformed. dense double blooms with a classic silhouette is what gets mentioned every time anyone visits. I keep it in a dedicated rose bed with good air circulation which works perfectly. peak flowering through midsummer is when I understand why this plant has such devoted followers. black spot fungal disease on the leaves is the one ongoing challenge but it's worth the effort.
