Beginner success with Mr. Lincoln — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Mr. Lincoln. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to deep watering at the base rather than overhead.

I grow mine in a dedicated rose bed with good air circulation which is working really well. strong disease-resistant root stock was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. first flush of blooms in late spring has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring rose dieback from hard winter frosts, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
