Slow start but a stunning finish with Julia Child
The first few months with Julia Child were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting deadheading spent blooms to encourage reblooming right was the turning point.
strong disease-resistant root stock became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a cottage garden mixed planting with lavender it gets the attention it deserves. first flush of blooms in late spring was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: aphid infestations on new growth. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
