Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Julia Child

People describe Julia Child as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. deep watering at the base rather than overhead needs consistent attention and powdery mildew in humid summers can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Julia Child is genuinely underrated is the beauty. repeat-flowering over a long season is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a trellis or pergola for climbing varieties and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. first flush of blooms in late spring is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
