Beginner success with Julia Child — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Julia Child. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to applying rose-specific granular fertiliser in early spring.

I grow mine in a sunny south-facing garden border which is working really well. dense double blooms with a classic silhouette was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. hips forming in autumn for wildlife interest has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring aphid infestations on new growth, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
