Started Black Baccara at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Black Baccara at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. rose dieback from hard winter frosts didn't help matters. Once I understood applying rose-specific granular fertiliser in early spring things improved substantially.
strong disease-resistant root stock is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a dedicated rose bed with good air circulation it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. peak flowering through midsummer redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
