As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Sago Palm. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species.

I grow mine in a sheltered sunny courtyard or walled garden which is working really well. remarkable toughness once properly established was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. cold weather protection needed in winter for tender varieties has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring slow recovery from transplant shock when moved as large specimens, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
