Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Sago Palm

People describe Sago Palm as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. avoiding cutting healthy green fronds as this stresses the plant needs consistent attention and root bound decline in pots left too long without repotting can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Sago Palm is genuinely underrated is the beauty. long-lived structure that becomes more impressive over decades is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a warm conservatory or bright atrium and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. new frond production visible in spring and early summer is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
