Honest review: Majesty Palm is rewarding but slow recovery from transplant shock when moved as large specimens is real

Majesty Palm is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: slow recovery from transplant shock when moved as large specimens. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, long-lived structure that becomes more impressive over decades makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a large decorative pot as a patio centrepiece which suits it well. Learning about feeding with a palm-specific slow-release fertiliser in spring has been essential. new frond production visible in spring and early summer is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
