My first attempt at Kentia Palm failed — red palm weevil damage in warmer European regions got hold of it and I didn't know what I was looking at until it was too late. I left it alone for a year before trying again.

The second attempt, with proper attention to wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species, has been completely different. It's now thriving in a warm conservatory or bright atrium and instantly transformative architectural presence in any setting is on full display. best planting and repotting in late spring as soil warms this year was a genuine reward for starting again. If you failed first time, the plant isn't the problem — the conditions probably were.
