Honest review: Kentia Palm is rewarding but root bound decline in pots left too long without repotting is real

Kentia Palm is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: root bound decline in pots left too long without repotting. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, remarkable toughness once properly established makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a sheltered sunny courtyard or walled garden which suits it well. Learning about wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species has been essential. best planting and repotting in late spring as soil warms is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
