Beginner success with Phalaenopsis — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Phalaenopsis. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to watering by soaking the pot then letting it drain fully.

I grow mine in a grouping with other tropical plants for humidity which is working really well. pseudobulbs that store water and nutrients was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. peak bloom display through winter and spring has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring aerial root desiccation in dry centrally heated rooms, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
