The propagation success I didn't expect with Oncidium
I started with one Oncidium and now have four, all from propagation. The process is straightforward once you understand feeding with a half-strength orchid fertiliser weekly in summer — something I picked up from trial and error rather than any guide.
I display them in a conservatory shelf with filtered light which shows off extraordinary bloom longevity lasting weeks to months at its best. triggering a new flower spike with cooler autumn nights is when they're most impressive. scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves has been my main challenge across all of them, but it's manageable now that I know what to look for. A genuinely generous plant if you let it be.
