Six months with Dendrobium — what I actually learned
I brought Dendrobium home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding watering by soaking the pot then letting it drain fully — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.
I grow it in a grouping with other tropical plants for humidity and the position has been ideal. wide hybridisation resulting in an almost unlimited colour range is what keeps drawing me back to it. peak bloom display through winter and spring was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
