I don't have a garden so a decorative cachepot for a formal living room is my only option for Dendrobium. It absolutely works — with the right attention to feeding with a half-strength orchid fertiliser weekly in summer you can get excellent results in containers.

pseudobulbs that store water and nutrients is fully achievable even in a pot. peak bloom display through winter and spring is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: aerial root desiccation in dry centrally heated rooms. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
