The unexpected joy of growing Cymbidium
I planted Cymbidium without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. extraordinary bloom longevity lasting weeks to months is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a grouping with other tropical plants for humidity which is perfect for it. repotting into fresh bark medium every two or three years was the thing I got lucky getting right early. peak bloom display through winter and spring stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. failure to rebloom without a temperature drop trigger is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
