I've grown several varieties within the Cattleya family and have some observations to share. spectacular flower forms that rival almost any plant varies noticeably between them, more than catalogue descriptions suggest. The care fundamentals are shared — providing bright indirect light away from direct afternoon sun applies across all of them.

scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves affects some more than others, particularly in adverse conditions. I grow mine in a conservatory shelf with filtered light which works well for most varieties. peak bloom display through winter and spring is the clearest moment of differentiation between varieties — that's when the character of each comes through. Worth growing a few side by side if you have the space.
