I planted ZZ Plant at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. fungus gnats in consistently damp potting compost didn't help matters. Once I understood repotting only when roots are visibly emerging from the drainage holes things improved substantially.

year-round green presence improving mood and productivity is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In an office desk with a grow light supplement it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. summer growth needing more frequent watering and feeding redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
