I don't have a garden so a plant shelf or bookcase as a green interior feature is my only option for Spider Plant. It absolutely works — with the right attention to wiping dusty leaves with a damp cloth to improve light absorption you can get excellent results in containers.

air-purifying properties in enclosed indoor spaces is fully achievable even in a pot. summer growth needing more frequent watering and feeding is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: overwatering causing yellowing leaves and root rot. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
