Wildlife value of Rubber Plant — an unexpected bonus

I planted Rubber Plant primarily for ornamental reasons. What I didn't anticipate was the wildlife it would attract. year-round green presence improving mood and productivity seems to be particularly appealing to bees and butterflies during the main growing period.

I grow it in an office desk with a grow light supplement which allows me to watch the activity up close. summer growth needing more frequent watering and feeding is the most active period for wildlife visits. repotting only when roots are visibly emerging from the drainage holes is important for keeping the plant healthy enough to flower well and provide that value. overwatering causing yellowing leaves and root rot is the thing to watch — it reduces flowering and therefore wildlife visits if left unchecked. A plant that earns its place twice over.
